Summary

It took me a book or so to decide if I liked Agatha and these books or not。 They're pretty undemanding, and if I read that Agatha "howled" one more time I might rip out a page。 But they're also very evocative of the Cotswolds atmosphere, and I like hearing about how Agatha ungracefully and ungraciously handles the trials of middle age。 I do in fact like her, though she's that friend you wish would make better decisions。 It took me a book or so to decide if I liked Agatha and these books or not。 They're pretty undemanding, and if I read that Agatha "howled" one more time I might rip out a page。 But they're also very evocative of the Cotswolds atmosphere, and I like hearing about how Agatha ungracefully and ungraciously handles the trials of middle age。 I do in fact like her, though she's that friend you wish would make better decisions。 。。。more

I've always thought it would be nice to get addicted to a cozy mystery series with more entries than I could ever hope to read。 I could read them on a train traveling across a European mountain range, I could read them in a Parisian bathtub while I drink wine that costs more than I make in a month, I could read them in a falafel house in Constantinople, or on the rail of a pleasure barge floating down the Nile。This was an enjoyable enough read, but alas, I've yet to find anything good enough to I've always thought it would be nice to get addicted to a cozy mystery series with more entries than I could ever hope to read。 I could read them on a train traveling across a European mountain range, I could read them in a Parisian bathtub while I drink wine that costs more than I make in a month, I could read them in a falafel house in Constantinople, or on the rail of a pleasure barge floating down the Nile。This was an enjoyable enough read, but alas, I've yet to find anything good enough to distract me from whatever luxurious travels I assume I'll have someday。 But I'll probably return to this series, because Agatha Raisin, irritating trout though she may be, is a pleasant companion for a few hours' time。 。。。more

Horrifyingly racist。 This book was full of ideological nightmares。 Racism, racism, racism- boldly racist with sprinkles of microaggressions。 An "effeminate" man (who the protagonist assumes is gay) who constantly shrieks and makes a fool of himself。 For the record, the plot? Shitty。 The characters? Annoying and shallow。 The writing? Boring。 The ending? Disappointing and anticlimactic。 Every second sentence seemed to be the protagonist obsessing over her weight and "feeling fat"。 Please just stop Horrifyingly racist。 This book was full of ideological nightmares。 Racism, racism, racism- boldly racist with sprinkles of microaggressions。 An "effeminate" man (who the protagonist assumes is gay) who constantly shrieks and makes a fool of himself。 For the record, the plot? It was quite good, just didn't hit off for me。 By all means, read the book!
